The year is 2000 and something and the Moonbar or Family is having an absolute cracker with a headliner slinging out the one genre that brought all the other genres together, breakbeats! Fast forward a couple decades, some of the dancefloor moves might be a bit laboured but the love, fun and good times are still unmissable and unbeatable!  If you missed out, my condolences, if you went, also my condolences to your livers and heads!

Alot of mixed emotions for the final month of a Brisbane institution in the Rumpus Room closing down parties, so many fond memories that could only be sent off with a proper rinsing from the Junkyard Sesh crew! Check out the madness in the full gallery below! 😀

So about 10 years ago, it was a very sad day when Brisbane’s drum and bass institution, Rudebwoyz decided to retire from its years of monthly nights, leaving us and many others sad but our livers quite relieved. Fast forward a decade and with a blessing from the bass gods the event was relaunched and it was like it never left! ..all we had to do was walk a couple doors down to the new venue at Capulet 😉

Check out the highlights below!

Future returned to its original home this year, while it was skeptical that would also be a return of the torrential rain and sloppy conditions of old it was the complete opposite with the festival gods smiling down with perfect weather. Production was upped with plenty of confetti and CO2 cannons, pyrotechnics and lighting along with an updated stage layout. All in all another epic day on the field.

Check out the bumper highlight gallery below!

045 - cover

It’s all happening this week, we’re taking over the mag! Ok so it wont change to a comic format with reviews on sneakers, toys and watches but we do put more of our grubby finger prints over it than usual starting with the front cover shot of The Cairos as well as the nabbing those harping groovers The Flumes for “The Guide” section cover, and finally we head out to Ellement Lounge for a drum and bass double header with half of New Zealand outfit, The Upbeats and reunited live DnB dynamic duo, Silent Shadow! Highlight photos of that gig below.

On top of all that The Music mag has launched a new app for iOS and Android and is already one of the top three apps for gig guides!

Check it all out in this week’s issue of The Music (Brisbane) #045.

Get it FREE from all the usual street press outlets, read current and back issues online @ The Music magazine – Brisbane or download the app from iTunes and Android.

Blahfest once again rose to the occasion and delivered a quality festival minus all the usual qualms associated with large gatherings of “music lovers”.

Over abundance of bad dubstep (is there even any that’s good?? ;p ) aside, stand out sets were easily marked by A.Skillz and LTJ Bukem.

Sound issues aside, DnB stalewart Friction smashes out a rockin set for the Queen’s biffy.
