WOW! What better way to ring in the new year than with a music festival! Remember those? Me neither! But the window of opportunity was open, DJ legends of the scene were on the decks and as expected the crowd was more than up for it!

There’s very few bands that can stand the test of time, let alone for decades… let alone in dance music… let alone live dance music but I’ll be damned if The Prodigy doesn’t continue to deliver! Last time we caught them at Future Music festival in less than ideal conditions (ok it was horrible wading through shin deep swampy mud!) so it was a treat to stay (mostly) dry this time.

Blahfest once again rose to the occasion and delivered a quality festival minus all the usual qualms associated with large gatherings of “music lovers”.

Over abundance of bad dubstep (is there even any that’s good?? ;p ) aside, stand out sets were easily marked by A.Skillz and LTJ Bukem.

Its been awhile between drinks for a Krafty club gig but as always, he doesn’t disappoint!
A definite highlight would be the layering of “hit the road jack” over drum and bass with Prodigy snippets. Completely nuts!

So an era has come to an end. Brisbane’s top level of the Empire Hotel, the Moonbar closed its doors for the last time along with the rest of the building for what some would say, much needed renovations. The rebirth has been rumored as about a year, in the meantime you can chase some of the Empire’s regular night in the Uncle lounge of the Family Nightclub.

The boys are back at it again with their “Giving it back” series, basically putting their pay on the bar and sharing the love! It’s not about about being cool or leeching your mates, its about the love of music and having a good time and that’s exactly what we had!
