A long while ago we took some photos of Daft Punk, back in 2007 for their Alive Tour to be exact and of DJ Falcon at a separate club gig. Less “awhile ago” the folks over at St. Martin’s Press decided to compile a comprehensive biography of all things Daft Punk related and include said photos. The book has since gone to print and it looks great! If you’re a fan of the helmeted wonders (and pyramids), do yourself a favour and get your grubby mitts on to it.

Mr. X to the Z brought his versus Hip Hop show to the Chalk Hotel carpark for the first installlment of their Soundcheck series of hip hop events to be held over the next few months. Even with sound restrictions, X stomped through with his west coast flavour and unmistakeable pizazz and charm.

Public Enemy brought the noise and an energetic show to the Hifi bar that would put most of today’s acts to shame!

That young, stupidly rich swedish dude that some times plays music made his way around the country starting at the Brisbane Riverstage last week. Hat was reversed, a hand was held up and waved, “OOSSHH” faces were made and beat drops were plentiful for the adoration of the sold out crowd of tweens and brusses. In the words of support act New World Sound, “BRIZZAAYYY!! Gah-in’ off!!”.

Who ever said “All good things must come to an end” needs to be punched in the face! 🙁
Sadly, recently we said goodbye to a unique event on the Brisbane clubbing calendar, Dame Reggaeton, Brisbane’s one and only regular reggaeton night which solidered on for a solid five year inning. Many great nights were hand and plenty of new friends have been made so it is a loss to see it go, hopefully we’ll be treated to something similar in the future!

Much love to Danilo, Yin and the rest of the crew, it was an absolute pleasure working with you and to the folks that came out and shook their bits, hope to see you all shaking it some where soon (:

So where was I the last couple weeks? Why, getting head spins from paint and glue fumes of course!

Some of you may know I also moonlight under the Saru Venom/James Saru monikers for my creative projects, in this case it was for the Laced Munny customising competition held in conjunction annually with the Kidrobot Dunny release. With top notch entries in previous years I really had my work cut out for me, not to mention one of the biggest hurdles of just getting it started (unlike previous years!). So I decided to go all out and create the Diodon Battle Droid based loosely on Robotech Mech Warriors and incorporating some freshly learned painting techniques thanks to a resurging love for model kit building. Also threw some LED’s at it for good measure 😉

The competition itself had really taken off this year with 39 entries from some talented artists but the hard work paid off as I took home 1st place in the competition! 😀

Special thanks to Laced and their sponsors for hosting another great event, now how to follow it up next year??

Check the spec sheet for build information and the detailed photos below.

Last week we took a trip down the coast to check out the Red Bull QualiFLYERs at Bond Uni. It was a little weird being back at uni… and sober 😉 but it was one fun way to spend an afternoon, making paper planes!

Some photos have started to make their way to the Red Bull website with plenty more of the action to come!
