It seems what Mother Nature spared on Good Vibes this year, she lashed it on Future. Showers and rain the week prior as well as on the day left the venue more a boggy mess than anything that resembled a racecourse! Thankfully the music and production on display surpassed previous years (and festivals) with highlights of the day coming from industry forefathers like Leftfield, Chemical Brothers and Plastikman.

Keep an eye out for a bumper issue and full festival recap and our exclusive photos in this week’s 3D World Magazine.

New Found Glory - Soundwave 2011

So what do you do when you have your first festival off from shooting in years? You run amok with your friends that’s what!

It took a little getting used to, not lugging my gear around and not having to be somewhere 10 minutes ago, but a quick jump around to Millencolin and Sum 41 settles things down for me to camp out pretty much all day at stage 3 for a plethora of punk and ska.

Highlights of that stage were New Found Glory (complete with their own team apparel), Pennywise and Less than Jake. Unfortunately, due to those inconsiderate bastards Social Distortion, deciding to overrun their mid afternoon set by 15min meant all subsequent acts were cut short to meet the 10pm curfew. Not too bad if they had hour long sets but they were all already at a very “punk” 40 minutes.

Even though it was my day off, I still managed a couple happy days through out the day. Check out the Soundwave Festival 2011 Brisbane photos here

Less than Jake - Soundwave 2011

A glorious day was to behold for this year’s Big Day Out festival, nothing but blue sky and sunshine for a wide range of acts with Rammstein taking the crown for a spectacular pyrotechnic filled show.

For the uninitiated, its not a whole festival dedicated to Kesha (no I’m not typing the S as a $) it’s actually Brisbane’s seminal breakbeat festival!

Second year in and they’re already on the expansion with more stages and an even bigger lineup. Highlight was definitely Beardyman with many notable mentions like Freq Nasty, Freestylers, Cuban Brothers and Soul of Man added to a day of great music and friendly faces.
Best of all the dismal weather of late held off for pretty much the whole day!

Brisbane gets a royal sampling!!

We’ve known for awhile that Brisbane is packed full of awesomeness, you just have to know where to look. So we at soulbridgemedia rounded up a couple of our good friends and thought we’d help the uninitiated out by hosting a cultural festival encompassing.. well, cool shit!

Expect to see and hear goodies from up and coming and established music, dance performances, art and fashion designers. It will be a day full of live music, DJ’s, dancers, fashion shows and market stalls selling anything from sneakers and collectible toys to clothing and art work and there will even be sample bags!

Best of all, you too can be part of it. We’re on the look out for businesses, promoters, DJ’s, artists, designers or even private sellers wishing to be part of or even help sponsor the event. Even if you just want to get your flyers/business promo/demo material out to the greater community, we can help!

Whoa! what a messy (of the dirty kind!) day that was! Contender for worse festival weather since Good Vibes 2009 but just as fun all the same.
