What a day of nostalgic fun! The 90s was definitely the best decade for music and the headlining acts proved they still had it!
600 photos covering 27 great artists over one BIG day out at the Gold Coast!
Nothing but sunshine and blue skies for the first show of the Australian tour!
Our pick of the day goes to Chicage rockers, Rise Against with a very energetic show in the afternoon
Get a peak of them and the rest of the headliners in the preview gallery.
Keep your eyes peeled for the complete mammoth gallery coming very soon!
Big Day Out map and set times
The grand daddy of all festivals is finally here! As per the usual run of the house, it’s a veritable smorgasbord of genres, from rockin Perth lads Karnivool, mishmasher Girl Talk, prog master Sasha, to cutesy bad girl Lily Allen, rock snobbery of Muse and angry metal monsters Fear Factory, there’s something for everyone.
Hopefully the weather gods still have a few smiles left after Summafieldayze to make this a dry event for once!

The Adicts boys notch up their first festival after a stellar couple of years of providing Brisbane clubbing with its breakbeat needs. The weather held off for the most part, not that it mattered too much, with good use of the Riverlife space which is normally used for functions and watersports/leisure activity hire.
Definitely one of those spaces that we’ll look forward to seeing more events at!
Full Stereosonic 2009 Lineup
HOUSE, in every variation and incarnation of the genre, you can be sure its covered. Theres even some live bands in there for good measure (:
How many times do you hear it months in advance all the way up till literally 11:59pm Dec. 31st ?
Well its time you stop wishing on that delusion where some how ALL of your friends are going to be at the same place and EVERYone will enjoy themselves and to make your own plans! Luckily the lads at Adicts and Ten Pound are here to help by taking the “Holiday break” literally!
Two big line ups in two brand spankin new locations. Nothing like a bit of lateral thinking to take advantage of Queensland’s 9 months of summer 😀
First up is the Blah Blah Blah Festival. Ambiguous on the name but not on the intention, as it’s nothing but breaks as far as the eye can see. With a colossal lineup of just about every breaks act/dj that has played in Brisbane over the last couple years you’ll be brushing your teeth with Hardstyle to get the taste out!

Set on the base of the Kangaroo Point cliffs this looks to be the perfect way to burn off that Xmas roast… or add to it with a few bevvys in the sun 😉
Tickets on sale now.
After that, you get a whole 4 days (remember Monday 28th is a holiday 😉 ) of rest (or just kick on!) before you go at it again with BBQ Beats! These guys never disappoint and after evolving from the confines of the riverside centre this year, they’ve further spread their wings and moved it to a very lush and exclusive location at Victoria Park golf course. Thinking of cracking a few at the driving range before hand? Me too. Jolly good! 😀
They too have dipped into their caddy to pull some of their fave acts and djs from the previous years and compiled another well rounded lineup up of a great selection of genres. From the buttery soul of Amp Fiddler to the funk and hiphop grooves of The Nextmen and Roots Manuva to the anthemic Pendulum there’s enough there to make you tingly in your plaids.
First round announcement goes a bit like this:
PENDULUM
BLOC PARTY (DJ SET)
ROOTS MANUVA
AMP FIDDLER
CLAUDE VON STROKE
MALENTE
D.RAMIREZ
THE NEXTMEN AND MC WREC
JOKER
THUNDERHEIST
AUTOEROTIQUE
With more to be announced. Tickets on sale 5 November.
Relive the fun of this year’s BBQ Beats with those protagonists, Public Enemy!
Valley Fiesta 2009
The big event of the week has to be the Valley Fiesta!
Our very own entertainment precinct celebrates its uniqueness over 3 days of live bands, djs, performances and activities for all.
There’s a noticeable lack of big names on this year’s lineup, most likely attributed to the escalating mayhem from previous years, and rightly so. But there’s still plenty of fun to be had with highlights including C.W. Stoneking, Kev Carmody, Bertie Blackman, The Optimen, Soma Rosa, the gruesome raising of the dead with the Zombie Walk and to close off the festivities is local party rocker Sampology with his death defying* audio visual extravaganza which incorporates him using a mixer which mixes sound and images as if they were records! Crazy? Has to be seen to be believed! 😀
*may not actually require defying of death

As the festival season rolls in, so do the line up announcements. We’re surprised Soundwave (Brisbane) didn’t sell out after Big Day Out sold out in record time, but now after the second line up announcement, a sold out show is imminent with the announcement of Heavy metallers, Anthrax, whiney heart felt stale warts, Placebo and teen movie soundtrackers, Motion City Soundtrack.
Along with Shinedown, Set your goals, Enter Shikari and Closure in Moscow.
They join an already BDO trumping lineup of:
Faith No More
My Chemical Romance
Janes Addiction
Afi
Paramore
HIM
Alexisonfire
Taking Back Sunday

Sunny Day Real Estate
Eagles Of Death Metal
The Get Up Kids

Good Vibrations (on the same day) really has to pull a seriously bigrabbit out of its hat to draw the multi-genrelists away from that one. Speaking of which, GV lineup will be announced soon! 😀
