Well if there was ever a time to call an “Australia Day 2” on a music festival this would be it! Its no real secret that FMF is plagued with some of the worse weather Queensland can dish out each year but the music gods severely lost out this year with constant rain all day and atrocious ground conditions – to the point one of the main stages was closed early in the day, but apart from that it was non stop music and pyrotechnics!

Mutant jazz cohorts Trichotomy wheel in a homeless person’s sized suitcase of vintage gadgetry to our Time Off Magazine Live cover shoot this week.
It was also every red blooded rocker’s favourite day of the year with the Soundwave Festival. Prepare those devil horns for a huge two page spread of reviews and a few photos to match!

Here are a few of the highlights from last week’s Soundwave Festival in Brisbane. Forecast was for rain all day with days either side varying in degrees of downpour, so it was a pleasant surprise when there was not a single drop all day for some of rock’s greats and bands of the now to do their thing to.

The Fevered break out in a sweat in our Time Off Magazine Live cover shoot this week.
We also ducked out for Civil Civic @ The Black Bear Lodge. There were times I thought I was trapped in the Scott Pilgrim soundtrack with the distorted yet harmonic mashing of guitar and machine, definitely a band to keep an eye on!

The origins of Brisbane rave culture was once again revived for the annual Candee Flip event. Lasers were reached for and smiley faces were had 😀

First Dame Reggaeton of 2013 and not even a tornado couldn’t stop it! The offering of shelter, power and ample rump shaking brought the droves in from the gale force winds and localised flooding and good times were had.
